The story of Artworks Gallery starts in 1977, when Gib and Betty Patton opened a frame shop in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. Mr. Patton had visited a do-it-yourself framing business in Philadelphia, and decided to try his luck opening a franchise location close to home. A year after his first shop opened, he added another location to serve the West Shore. Shortly thereafter, the Pattons separated from the franchise and continued under a new name and independent ownership.
By 1980, Gib and Betty’s four children had stepped in to help the growing business. The following years saw expansion beyond retail framing to include warehouse facilities for large scale commercial projects. In 1986, the four siblings established a new venture and created Artworks Gallery in Camp Hill, which was distinguished by its large selection of framed art, providing custom framing without the do-it-yourself option.
In 2006, all existing storefront locations merged to create the current Artworks Gallery and Custom Framing, housed in a new, expansive facility on the Carlisle Pike in Mechanicsburg.
Today, Artworks Gallery is the premier picture framing shop in Central Pennsylvania, a respected local business with a reputation for excellence, and a testament to Gib Patton’s legacy.
